Rhododendron

Rhododendron macrophyllum

Toxic to nearly everything that eats it. The bees know what they're doing.

The Pacific rhododendron lights up the evergreen understory of the Northwest with clusters of pink and purple, and it is the state flower of Washington. It is also toxic to nearly everything that tries to eat it. The bees that work it seem to know exactly what they’re doing, which is more than can be said for most things that visit a rhododendron.
