The Artemisia absinthium is the plant that launched a thousand bad poems and at least a few masterpiece novels. Known as the primary ingredient in Absinthe, it was the “Green Fairy” that haunted the cafes of Paris. It provided the hallucinations, the inspiration, and the eventual hangovers—but the writers always managed to take the credit for the genius while blaming the plant for the madness.
